Who knew the phoenix sky could turn this hue
In alien flames, Darkness birthed the Sun
From lack of hope and light
From black to red to blue! Who knew
When we waited, ached, yay weighted
by deep of dark and passive plight
in stark contrast
‘tween wistful mem’ry and lightless night
such a phoenix, such a limitless horizon
could show again and so slow our sighs
and silence our sorrows with
sudden swoop that we, unwatchful children,
may see.
Who knew that there was such a sight
It was not us alone and blind that
Brought forth this beauty and so named it “Sun”
Nay, brother. Nay, sister.
We see above an altogether different sort of Love
That makes our night candle abashed
When weak black, gashed with flame
Retreated from before our local hero
So I salute you, herald of sunburn, glare and sweat
You knew all along the night would end after all
